a touch of whimsy.....

I love a touch of whimsy in a room! I think these Jonathan Adler pillows are a simple way to add a bit of humor and a fun punch of color to any space! They are also a great way to tie a room together....see my last post of our master bedroom.

Yes, that is a Jonathan Adler pillow on our master bed...and I think it is the piece that really makes the palette of the room work (see how it reinforces the pink found in the collage wall)!

Plus, you can even customize your own pillow design! Check out the Jonathan Adler website to pick from an amazing assortment of patterns and even choose your favorite color combinations!!!

 So fun!!!

tea towel art

One of my signature design "solutions" is a collage wall! I find that the "collage wall" can mask a number of issues (i.e. boring white space, I have so much art I don't know where to put it all, I have an electrical panel that needs to be disguised, I don't have a king size head board)!

In this case, it was all of the above!

So, I thought I would share with you one of my collage wall tricks! I love to find vintage tea towels and have them stretched and framed in a simple "floater" frame (usually costs $40-60).

One of my all time favorite finds is the pink and red kangaroo tea towel that we have above our bed.....I discovered this treasure for $2 at our local flea market. Lucky for you, there are two more available (in different color ways)- on etsy right now!!!

This really is an amazing way to take a vintage piece and make it feel current and usable!

Happy shopping!!!

mommy spring uniform

As the weather starts to shift from cold to "not quite sundress" weather-  it's hard to know what to wear!

I think this image from J Crew, is the perfect solution. I love the idea of dressing up a basic gray t,  dark skinny jean, and ballet flats - with a great classic trench, light weight scarf and fun jewelry. A hint of poppy lipstick adds polish to a thrown up- "up do"!

Perfectly polished mom...without much effort!

kid's wallpaper

As I've said before, I'm a huge fan of pattern! I especially love a great pattern in a child's bedroom or playroom.....wallpaper is such an easy way to add interest and set the tone for the feel of the space!

Here are a few of my current favorites:

1. little whales
2. the dotty
3. zoo animal vintage
4. circle zinnia
5. squirrel

undecorate by christiane lemieux

Check out Undecorate available at amazon. Above is a sneak peek of our nashville log cabin featured in the book! So many inspirational homes to see! More details directly from the source ....

By DwellStudio Founder & Creative Director, Christiane Lemieux
Jettison the old rulebooks about home décor and "undecorate" your space. As the founder and creative director of DwellStudio—which is famous for its brightly colored, graphic textile designs for home furnishings—designer Christiane Lemieux challenges tradition in a quintessentially American way, championing a fresh, unconventional approach to creating a beautiful and comfortable home. Lemieux emboldens readers to push aside stuffy, professionally-designed décor, showing them instead how to infuse their own personality into their home.
Undecorate profiles twenty homes from all over the country, revealing their owners’ love of imperfection and penchant for surprise and unusual juxtapositions while inspiring readers to follow their own whimsy and practicalities in their personal spaces. An anglophile creates an English manor in Hollywood, mixing British flea-market finds with midcentury furniture. A car fanatic turns a vintage Airstream trailer into a master bedroom and situates it in the middle of a vast industrial loft in downtown Chicago. A couple transforms a log house in Nashville, Tennessee, by blending their modern and eclectic styles with the home’s rustic charm. Though the designs differ widely, the spaces all express an open-minded attitude. Some homes embrace their contexts, while others transcend them. All are shaped by instinct and imagination and share innovative ideas that readers can use to organically and elegantly create their home to match their lifestyle and tastes.
Lemieux gets to the essence of the homeowners’ distinctive styles, pinpointing the transformative ideas, thoughtful details, and useful solutions that make each home memorable. With more than 200 full-color photographs, Undecorate will both inspire and guide homeowners to a new outlook on home design.

wayne pate fan

I am a huge Wayne Pate fan! His illustrations have such an amazing "clean" "graphic" quality to them. I have one of my favorites hanging in our foyer (above). Available at waynepate.com for the bargain price of $55...they are a steal!!!

dwell studio love

I am a huge fan of all things Dwell Studio. I have been a loyal fan from the very beginning (Oden's baby nursery almost 6 years ago was Dwell Studio's aqua baby chick print). If I were doing his nursery again today....... it would probably look like this!

I am absolutely in love with:

suppose, since unfortunately it does not look like there will be any more baby nurseries in my future, that I will have to satisfy my cravings with the draper stripe runner for my hall!
